Become a part of this statewide cohort of trainers supporting the youth development field.

Are you interested in becoming a School’s Out Washington trainer? Do you want to become a state-approved trainer to support your peers? We’d love to hear from you!

SOWA supports trainers in meeting their own professional development goals through independent contract opportunities and by offering mentorship through the state-approved trainer application process.

Independent Contractor (IC) vs. State-Approved Trainer

Independent contractors work with SOWA to provide their expertise to the field. SOWA independent contractors (ICs) must have either completed a Training of Trainers (ToT) or delivered a self-created training vetted by SOWA staff. ICs are not required to be state approved, but it is encouraged.

State-approved trainers are able to provide professional development (STARS) credit in MERIT for their trainings. Those interested in becoming state-approved trainers do not need to become independent contractors with SOWA to receive support. SOWA’s Organization Trainer Mentor (OTM) provides support and observation for those navigating the application process.
