Bill leads SOWA’s grants and contracts strategy and implementation. He is thankful for the opportunity to support the work of youth development programs and professionals throughout the state and the incredibly important role they play in our communities’ collective commitment to young people.
BHanawalt@schoolsoutwashington.orgBill has 20 years of leadership experience in place-based organizations focused on the educational and holistic support of young people, including as the initial Executive Director of Peace Community Center and the Senior Director of Development and Finance at Degrees of Change, both located in Tacoma, Washington. Additionally, he served on the ELO Statewide Council from 2014-2018 and was honored as a White House Champion for Change – Summer Opportunities in February 2016. Bill is particularly excited to support efforts to expand access to and improve the quality of youth development and expanded learning offerings throughout Washington.
