Best Practices to Support Ukrainian Students and Families

This workshop offers strategies and tools for working with Ukrainian students and parents.

This workshop provides background data and information on how to culturally and linguistically support Ukrainian families with specific information about the experiences of recent Ukrainian refugees.

This workshop has two components:

  1. Data and evidence-based information about Ukrainians, our local Ukrainian population in Washington, and specific information and support for Ukrainian refugees.
  2. Interactive session of Q&A led by two members of the Nashi Immigrants Health Board community outreach workers who have lived experience from within the Ukrainian community. They will share their backgrounds and experiences as well as some case studies to demonstrate best practices.

Learning objectives:

  • Gain awareness of the data related to Ukrainians in Washington state
  • Learn about Ukrainian cultural and historical contexts that may influence decisions and actions
  • Learn about best practices, strategies, and tools to communicate with and support Ukrainian students and parents effectively through examples and case studies.
