Pierce County Program Quality Manager

Sergio manages SOWA's program quality work in Pierce County, helping ensure there is equitable access to trainings, professional development and funding in Pierce County.

Sergio has worked in the youth development field since 2009. Throughout his career, Sergio has always aimed to be an empathic leader, while focusing on building relationships and community, as well as centering his work in social justice and equity. Most recently, Sergio was involved in the Expanded Learning Opportunities/ Whole Child Initiative in Tacoma, WA. Before that, Sergio was the program director for YMCA Childcare in Tacoma, WA and five years at Neighborhood House leading programs that focused on culture and empowerment for K-12 students. In his free time, Sergio enjoys playing football and video games and hanging with his dog, Koda, an 115 pound Alaskan Malamute.
